To help Americans understand how to build a better diet, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) last year retired from the well-known food pyramid, but confused and adopted a new health icon-eat: the colorful MyPlate, which is divided more clearly and simply in basic food groups. The MyPlate guide, which is based on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, like your standard plate quartered in the sections: fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins.
